The Korean economy is undergoing a drastic change both internally and externally. Externally, the new norms of global international trade focusing on free trade are being discussed,as well as and protectionism is are emerging at the same time due to the of interstate blocking. In addition, the global financial order is also likely to be reorganized due to instability of the exchange rate caused by the emergence of the euro currency in accordance with the establishment of the EU and the short-term international capital movements.
Internally, there has been a shift to a market economy system throughby the liberalization of the manufacturing sectors, financial sectors, foreign exchange markets and capital markets, and the domestic corporate environment including exchange rate, interest rate and new employment environment is going underexperiencing rapid changes in term of exchange rates, interest rates and labor unions.
To cope with such new domestic and foreign economic changes, it is an important for all economic agents such as governments and companies corporations to systematically understand the new business environment and seek effective response strategies.
Thus, the Graduate School of Economics has established the Advanced Economist Program, which is the first in Korea. This program aims to cultivate advanced economists by analyzing and discussing changes in the corporate environment and the the response strategies to cope with them, and is targeted for CEOs of, financial institutions, governments officials, journalists, and politicians. and various private economic organizations.
In particular, during the fall semester of 2018, we planour school provides to run the Festina Lente Reading Club as the Advanced Economist Program. The Festina Lente Reading Club' is a program that provides a sense of relaxed and gracious insight and wisdom to leaders who are living in the rapidly changing world through reading classical books and masterpieces.
