1. Graduate School of Economics Regulations

Chapter 1 General Regulation
Article 1 (Purpose)
The purpose of this graduate school is to contribute to the development of the Korean economic worldy by cultivating professionals business people with leadership and creative ability by studying and teaching Economics in a scientific way that harmonizes theory and application practice based on the Christian spirit.
Article 2 (Location and Programocess)
This graduate school is located on the Seoul campus of our school university and has a master's degree program and research program in Economics.
Chapter 2 Quota and Major
Article 3 (Quota)
The annual admission quota for this graduate school is 105 for the master’s degree program student and a few persons for the research program.
Article 4 (Major)
The majors in the master's degree programs at this graduate school are as follows.
  • 1. Financial Economics, Insurance, International Business & Industry, Public Policy & Economic Development, and Managerial Economics
  • 2. Separate from the above 1, aAccording to Article 8 of Promotion of Industrial Education Promotion Promotion and Industry-Academia Collaboration Promotion Act, it is possible to place provide major a master's degree program and research program majoring in contracts based on contracts with the state, local governments and industries. Chapter 3 Admission
Article 5(Admission)
Admission period for this graduate school is before the start of each semester.
Article 6 (Eligibility for Application)
Applicants for admission to the graduate program of this graduate school must meet one of the following requirements, and the requirements of the research program isshall follow the same.

Article 7 (Application Procedure)
Applicants for admission to this graduate school’s master's degree or research program must submitpay the prescribed documents and pay the entrance applicant fee.
Article 8 (Admission Evaluation Process)
Applicants who have applied for admission to the Graduate School's master's degree or research program (including transferring admission and admission to supernumerary quota) will go through the admission process. Details of the admission procedure shall be in accordance with the bylaws.
Article 9 (Approval of Admission)
Approval of admission (including transfer admission, to supernumerary quota) is conducted by the presidentDean of the Yonsei Graduate School through after the deliberation of the Operation Committee of the Graduate School.
Article 10 (Transfer)
Transfer students, whoA person who haves completed one year or more in a master's degree course programat home or abroad, recognized by the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, or who is are entitled to transfer to this graduate school with equivalent qualifications under the laws and regulations, , transfer students can be admitted through the admission process conducted by theis graduate Graduate schoolSchool. The number of admission, the application procedure, and the method of admission shall be the same as in the case of general admission.
Article 11 (Admission viato supernumerary quota)
Those who intend seek to enter the graduate school as foreigners, etc., may be admitted to via supernumerary quota (within 2% of the quota). In addition, a military commissioned student recommended by the Ministry of National Defense through the Ministry of Education under the school district alliance agreement can be admitted to via the supernumerary quota (within 10 percent of the quota) through the examination conducted by the graduate school.
Chapter 4 Registration
Article 12 (Registration)
  1. 1. Those who are permitted admittedto enter (including entrance, entrance, etc.) are required to pay the admission fee and the payment amounttutition within the prescribed period. Admission will be canceled if payment is not made within the specified deadline.

Article 13 (Reduction and Refund of Payment)
  1. 1. Payments shall not be reduced from because of absence, suspension of attendance, suspension or expulsion.
  2. 2. Any payment already made shall not be returned except except payment by mistake. Exceptions are made in the cases where the relevant laws and ordinances are applied.
Article 14 (Leave of Absence)
If the a student aims seeks to take a leave of absence due to illness or other unavoidable reasons, the student must submit the application form and get obtain approval from the President Dean of the Graduate School. Details regardingof leave of absence are subject to separate bylaws.
Article 15 (Reinstatement)
When a student who withdraws from school is toseeks to return to school, he / she must obtain approval of the Dean of Graduate School submit the application form for the reinstatement period prior to the registration period of the relevant semester and obtain the approval of the graduate school president.
Article 16 (Expulsion)
Any person falling under any of the following subparagraphs shall be expelled.
  • 1. Those who have not been registered withinfor a certain specified period of time.
  • 2. Those who have not returned to school within the prescribed period after the expiration of the leave of absence period.
  • 3. Those who have not completed enrollmentenrolled in courses after a certainwithin a specified period of time.
  • 4. Those who have falsified their education.
  • 5. Any person who is found to haveThose who violated his / her dutiesprofessionalism, such as cheating during the various tests, and is are not likely to have a chance of improvement.
Article 17 (Withdrawal)
Anyone who wants to leave school must submit his / her form and obtain approval from the President Dean of the Graduate School. Those who leftave school cannot be readmitted.
Article 18 (Readmission)
If a person who has been expelled by reason ofdue to Article 16 (1), (2) or (3) desires re-admission, he / she may grant be permittedission to re-enter when there is a vacancy within the scope of the quota. However, a person who has been expelled by Article 16 (4), (5) or Article (28) shall not be allowed to re-entereadmitted.
Chapter 5 Lessons, Courses and Credits
Article 19 (Class years)
  1. 1. The term of study for a master's degree program shall be two years and six months (five semesters) in principle, and the period of study may not exceed five years (ten semesters). The term of study in the research program shall be at least two semesters and at most four semesters. However, the leave of absence period shall not be counted in the school year.
  2. 2. (Shortening the term of study) The term of study for a master's degree program shall be at least two years (four semesters), and the details of shortening the term of study shall be in accordance with the " Regulations on shortening the class length”
Article 20 (Courses to be completed)
All students are required to complete the required and elective courses according to the curriculum, and must be approved by the head professor in advance.
Article 21 (Credits to be completed)
A minimum of 35 credits must be earned for a Master's degree student, and a minimum of 12 credits must be completed earned during the study periodfor a Research Program student.
Article 22 (Maximum number of credits per semester)
All students are allowed to complete 12 credits per semester. (Changed in September 2005)
Article 23 (Exchange of Credits and Recognition of Transferred Students)
  1. 1. The exchange of credits among the other graduate schools of thise university shall be in accordance with the "Regulations on exchange of credits among special graduate schools".
  2. 2. Details of recognition of transfer credits obtained by other transfer students are subject to separate bylaws.
Article 24 (Credit Acceptance)
If the attendance rate inof the a course is more higher than two-thirds of the classroom hours and the academic grade is C- or above, it is added to the course credits.
Chapter 6 Qualification Examination and Degree Award
Article 25 (Qualification Examination)
Master's degree students are required to pass a comprehensive examination as a qualification requirement for the degree. Details of the comprehensive examination shall be in accordance with the separate bylaws. However, students who entered before 2015 must pass the foreign language examination in addition to the comprehensive examination.
Article 26 (Award of Degree)
Those who meet satisfy the prescribed qualifications for the master's degree are awarded a master's degree in economics by the committee's deliberation by the Graduate School Committee and the recommendation of the Graduate School. Details of this degree conferral shall be in accordance with the separate bylaws. Article 26-2 (Cancellation of Graduation) If the recipienta person has received the degree in an illegitimate manner, the president President of University may cancel the award by reviewing the Graduate School Committee.
CHAPTER 7 Reward and Punishment
Article 27 (Scholarship)
Scholarship or research expenses can be paid or subsidizedrewarded for those who are well behaved and have excellent academic ability.
Article 28 (Discipline)
A student who conducts an activity that violates the duty as a student of this graduate school may be punished.
Chapter 8 Organization
Article 29 (Organization)
This graduate school has a graduate school presidentdean, associate deanvice president, and necessary faculty membersstaffs.
Article 30 (Head professor of each major)
This graduate school has head professors designated by the president Dean of the graduate school and appointed by the uUniversity president President according tofor the majors prescribed in Article 3.
Article 31 (Operating Committee)
This graduate school has an operating committee composed of more than five professors appointed by the president Dean of the graduate school, and the president Dean of the graduate school is the chairman of the committee.
Article 32 (Deliberations by the Operating Committee)

The Operating Committee shall deliberate on the following matters.

  1. 1. Matters concerning admittance of admission, expulsion and course of studentcompletion.
  2. 2. Matters concerning the establishment and abolition of departmentsprograms and, major, and student gardens.
  3. 3. Matters concerning the lesson planscurriculum.
  4. 4. Matters concerning regulations related to about degree programs or and the graduate school.
  5. 5. Matters concerning scholarship and research grants, payment of aid or assistance.
  6. 6. Other Matters concerning the operation of the Graduate School.
Article 32 2(Graduate School Committee)

The following matters shall be reviewed separately by the Graduate School Committee in accordance with Article 2, Paragraph 2 of the "Graduate School Committee Regulations".

  1. 1. Matters concerning the establishment, abolition, or title changes of name of a department (including contract department) or major
  2. 2. Amount of total quota or aAdjustments of quotas between graduate schools.
  3. 3. Changes in Degree Requirements
  4. 4. Cancellation of degree awards
  5. 5. Matters deemed necessary for integrated management of and, cooperation and cooperation among graduate schools
  6. 6. Items that are considered to be necessary for consultation because they may affect each other.
Article 33 (Method of Decision of Operation)
The Operating Committee shall be convened by the chairperson if necessary, and unless otherwise specified, a majority of the members shall be present at the meeting and shall be voted on by a two-thirds majority of the attendance attending committee members.
Article 34 (Term)
The term of presidentDean, vice presidentAssociate Dean, head professors and committee members shall be two years respectively. However, the term of office for a new appointment due to vacancy shall be the remainder of the predecessor's term.
Chapter 9 Public Lectures and Provisions
Article 35 (Open Lecture)
This graduate school can hold open lectures or classes for business people and practitioners as needed. Matters concerning the title, period, number of participants, place, etc. of open lectures or classes shall be determined by the President Dean of the Graduate School with the resolution of the Operating Committee and the approval of the President.
Article 36 (Bylaws and Regulations)
The details necessary for the operation of this school policy shall be determined by the bylaws and regulations.
Article 37 (Application)
Matters not mentioned in this school policy shall be in accordance with the detailed regulations of this school policy, the regulations of this school, and customs of this university.
Supplement
Article 1 (Effective Date)
This policy applies from February 1998 onwards.
Article 2 (Effective Date)
This policy applies from August 2000 onwards.
Article 3 (Effective Date)
This revised policy (Article 4-2) will be effective from August 2014 onwards for students entering the contract department.
Article 4 (Effective Date)
This revised policy (Article 4-1) will apply from August 2013 onwards.
Article 5 (Effective Date)
This revised policy (Article 11, Article 12.1) shall apply from September 1, 2014.
Article 6 (Effective Date)
This amendment policy (Article 25) will apply from February 2015 onwards.
Article 7 (Effective Date and Provisional Measures)
This revised regulation (Article 26-2. Article 32-2) shall come into force on the day0 month0 2015. However, it is also applied retrospectively to former graduates, and it is presumed that the implementations made before was implemented in accordance with this regulation.
 
Article 8 (Effective Date and Provisional Measures)
This revised policy (Article 3) will be enforced on September 4, 2018, but will apply retroactively from the 2006 freshman year.

2. School regulations

Chapter 1: General Provisions
Article 1 (Purpose)
The purpose of these bylaws is to establish details and procedures related to the implementation of the regulation of the Graduate School of Economics.
Chapter 2 Admissions
Article 2 (Time of Admission)
Admission decisions will be determined those who have applied for a master's degree or a research course (including transfer, entrance, etc.) prior to each semester.
Article 3 (Method of Admissions)
  1. 1. The master's degree program at this graduate school has special admission and general admission.
    • ①Special Admission: Document screening and oral examination
    • ②General Admission: examination (essay and English), document examination and oral examination
  2. 2. Special admission shall be conducted for applicants who have applied for admission to the Graduate School's research program, applicants who have applied for admission outside the prescribed quota, and those who have applied for transmissiontransfer.
  3. 3. Applicants who apply for admission to the Graduate School (including transmission, admission beyond quota) must select one of the major fields listed in Article 4 of the Graduate School Policy.
Article 4 (Eligibility for Special Admission)
For those who wish to take apply for a special admission of the graduate degree program, the president Dean of the graduate school may apply for a career limit in addition to the qualification of Article 6 of the Graduate School Policy.
Article 5 (Documents Required for Application)
  1. 1. Applicants who wish to apply for admission to the Graduate School will be required to submit the following documents within a prescribed period of time.
    • ① Application form (one sheet)
    • ② One college graduation certificate or one graduation certificate
    • ③ One copy of university transcript
    • ④ The prescribed examination fee
  2. 2. Those who wish to apply for admission to the Graduate School will be required to submit the following documents in addition to the documents stipulated in Article 5 (1) above.

    • ⑥ Proof of successful applicants for national examination, social service, recognition, etc. (only for those applicable)
  3. 3. Applicants who have applied for admission (including transfer, entrance, etc.) of this graduate school must select one of the major fields listed in Article 4 of the Graduate School Policy.
Article 6 (Appointment of Selection Committee)
For the admission of the Graduate School, the President of the Graduate School appoints professors of the university for the examination of questions, examination of documents and oral examination.
Article 7 (Determination of successful applicants)
The president of the graduate school assesses through the graduate school operation committee and the university president will confirm and announce it.
Article 8 (Registration of successful applicants)
Those who have passed the admission process will be admitted by registering for a certain period of time. If they do not register for a certain period without proper reasons, the admission will be canceled.
Chapter 3 Leave, Reinstatement, Expulsion and Readmission
Article 9 (General Leave)
If you wish to take a leave due to illness or other unavoidable reason, you must submit a written application for absence or a medical certificate and obtain approval from the president of the Graduate School.
Article 10 (Military Enrollment Leave)
  1. 1. If you are going to take a leave of absence due to military service, you must submit the application form with a copy of the military duty notice and obtain approval from the President of the Graduate School.
  2. 2. Students who have been enrolled after the mid-term examination will be acknowledged as taking the semester, and the midterm grades will be graded as the grade of that semester.
Article 11 (Period of absence and withdrawal)
  1. A period of absence from school cannot exceed one semester at a time, and students can take a leave of absence only two times during their studies. However, in the event of enrollment leave in Article 10, the military service period shall be regarded as a period of absence.
    If you are pregnant or childbearing or if you are taking leave of absence due to child-care for children under 8 years of age (if the child is in school, the term refers to the second year of elementary school or lower) it does not count as period of absence.
  2. 2. Enrollment Leave is also considered as a one-time leave of absence.
  3. 3. In the case of freshmen and returning students, except for medical reasons with the certificate or reasons for admission, the student shall not be allowed to leave school during the first semester of enrollment.
Article 12 (Application for Leave)
Unregistered leave of absence document must be submitted during the enrollment period, and students who have completed enrollment may submit absentees until the 2/3 of the semester.
Article 13 (Readmission)
  1. 1. If a person who has been expelled by reason of Article 16, 1, 2 or 3 of this Graduate School Policy wishes to be re-admitted within three years from the date of expulsion, a written explanation must be attached to the readmission form and approved by the Graduate School President. However, if three years have elapsed, the Graduate School Committee will review and the president of the university may approve the re-admission.
  2. 2. Re-admission is accepted only if there is a vacancy within the scope of determined quota.
  3. 3. Permission for readmission is limited to one time.
  4. 4. For those who are permitted to be readmitted, the credits and semesters accepted by this graduate school before the expulsion are recognized.
  5. 5. A person who is permitted to be readmitted must pay a prescribed readmission fee.
CHAPTER 4 Change of Major
Article 14 (Change of Major)
Those who want to change their field of study must submit the change of major in the enrollment period and obtain approval from the President of the Graduate School.
Article 15 (Permission to change major)
The change of major field should be allowed only to those who completed the first semester. However, in the case of a master's degree student, after the completion of the 2nd semester, the student can be granted permission after the judgement of the head professor.
Article 16 (Number of Changes)
Change of major is limited to one time.
Article 17 (Pre-change credits)
The credits of the majors completed in the major field before the change are acknowledged as elective courses.
Article 18 (Change of program)
Change of program is not allowed.
CHAPTER 5 Change of course credits, course enrollment and courses
Article 19 (Credits earned per semester)
All students must earn at least 2 credits and at most 12 credits. Merit based scholarships are eligible for those who take at least 8 credits.
Article 20 Deletion
Article 21 (Audit)
  1. 1. All students are allowed to audit up to two courses without credit for each semester.
  2. 2. The grades of the subjects are evaluated as pass (P) and non-pass (NP) and are described in the transcript.
Article 22 (Credit Acknowledgement)
  1. 1. Upon completion of the research program and entering the master's degree program, a maximum of 8 credits may be acknowledged for subjects with grades B0 or higher. This may shorten the duration of the school year if it falls within the scope of Article 19 (2).
  2. 2. A maximum of 6 credits may be acknowledged for courses taken at other graduate schools before entering this graduate school and which are similar to those offered at this graduate school after a preliminary screening. This may shorten the duration of the school year if it falls within the scope of Article 19 (2).
Article 23 (Recognition of Transferred Students' Term and Credit)
  1. 1. The credits earned in other graduate schools before transferring to this Graduate School can be acknowledged as credits earned in the graduate school within 6 credits, and one semester from the term of study may be shortened.
  2. 2. Acceptance of the semester and credits of the transfer student shall be decided by the president of the graduate school after hearing the opinions of the head professor and deliberation of the graduate committee.
Article 24 (Course enrollment)
Students are required to enroll courses during the registration period regardless of the registration status. If you fail to enroll for a course in the above period, you must apply at the time of the additional enrollment period to avoid expulsion.
Article 25 (Change of course)
  1. 1. The content of the course enrollment submitted cannot be changed. However, if there is a change in timetable, a cancelation, or other unavoidable circumstances, students can change their courses by submitting a course change approval approved by the professor and the head of the academic department during the beginning of the semester.
  2. 2. The grades of courses that have not been approved by the preceding paragraph and are changed at will are not accepted.
Article 26 (Withdrawal of Courses)
  1. 1. When it is judged that the course cannot be continued, the course can be withdrawn with the approval of the professor of the subject in the designated period.
  2. 2. After the withdrawal, the minimum number of credits in the remaining semester must be at least 2 credits.
  3. 3. When withdrawn, students can not apply for another course.
  4. 4. The withdrawn courses are excluded from grades, but are listed as W in the transcript.
Article 27 (Retake)
  1. 1. If the grade for required course is F, it must be retaken. If it is an elective course, it is not necessary to retake it.
  2. 2. In case of a course that has been retaken, the Graduate School Department will enter the grade with an indication that it is retaken.
  3. 3. Credits earned before retaking the course is not acknowledged the course credits.
  4. 4. Students may retake the course which want to increase the grades or the courses they received F.
Article 28 (Closure)
If the number of students for the course is three or less, the course may be closed.
CHAPTER 6 Exam, grades and attendance
Article 29 (Examination)
Each semester, the examination of each curriculum is carried out more than twice and can be replaced with a report at the discretion of the professor.

Chapter 7 Report of Failure to take test and Additional Examination
Article 31 (Report of Failure to take Tests)
  1. 1. If you fail to take the regular examination for unavoidable reasons, you must submit a statement of non-compliance to the professor.
  2. 2. A non-compliance document must be accompanied by a document proving the unavoidable reason.
Article 32 (Additional Examination)
Students who have submitted a statement of non-compliance will be allowed to take additional tests administered by their professors on a specified date only to those authorized by the professor.
Chapter 8 Foreign Language Test and Comprehensive Test
Article 33 (Foreign Language Test)
  1. 1. Students enrolled in a regular program or research program may take foreign language examination conducted every semester in accordance with Article 25 of the Graduate School Policy in any semester. However, starting from the 2015 school year, the foreign language test is abolished and it is not necessary to take the examination.
  2. 2. Those who want to take the foreign language test should submit the application form and pay the prescribed examination fee within the prescribed period.
  3. 3. The method of foreign language examination shall be a written examination, and it shall be tested whether the student's ability to read foreign language is appropriate for carrying out research in his / her major field.
  4. 4. If you pass 70 points or more on a 100-point scale, you will pass the foreign language test.
  5. 5. Those who fail to take the foreign language test may retake the test regardless of the number of times they took the foreign language test.
  6. 6. Students who passed the general admission to the Master's Degree Program of the Graduate School will have passed the foreign language test for those with score 70 or more on the score of 100 out of 100. In addition, the generalized English test of the applicant of graduate school master's degree program can also be used as a foreign language test.
  7. 7. The subjects of the foreign language examination and the committee members are determined by the president of the graduate school.
  8. 8. Students are exempt from foreign language test when submitting official English score equivalent to TOEIC 700 or higher.
Article 34 (Comprehensive Examination)
  1. 1. Applicants who have completed required courses and have completed two or more semesters are may take the comprehensive examination under Article 25 of the Graduate School Policy.
  2. 2. Comprehensive examination courses consist of two major courses. However, if the grade of the subject is A0 or above, the comprehensive examination for the course is exempted.
  3. 3. Those who want to take the comprehensive examination must submit the application form and pay the prescribed examination fee within the prescribed period.
  4. 4. Comprehensive examinations are conducted at the end of each semester, with at least 70 out of 100 for each subject. If the average score of all the subjects is less than 70, the students must retake the exam. If not, they can retake the failed courses.
  5. 5. The committee members of the comprehensive examination are determined by the president of the graduate school.
Article 35 (Registration of Research)
  1. 1. Students who fail to pass the foreign language test or the comprehensive examination cannot be promoted to the final semester of the master's degree course and must pay a prescribed fee and enroll as research semester to retake the foreign language examination or comprehensive examination. Foreign language test has been abolished, thus students are required to pass the comprehensive test.
  2. 2. Research registrants are not included in the quota of Article 3 of the Graduate School Policy.
Chapter 9 Degree Award
Article 36 (Award of Degree)
The Graduate School Committee assesses the qualifications upon the recommendation of the President of the Graduate School, and the President of the University awards a master's degree to those who have passed the assessment.
Article 37 (Eligibility for Degree Award)
Students are eligible for a degree if they meet the following requirements:
  1. 1. Those who have passed the foreign language examination. (Not applicable from 2015)
  2. 2. Those who passed the comprehensive examination.
  3. 3. Those who have registered for more than 4 semesters.
  4. 4. A student whose academic year has not exceeded 5 years (10 semesters).
  5. 5. Those who have completed 35 or more credits and who have received thesis guidance for more than one semester and passed the final examination of the thesis and the final oral examination, Or took 38 credits or more and passed the degree test. However, students who entered the school in 2013 or later do not need to take the degree test and may take 40 credits to be eligible.
  6. 6. Those with a GPA of 3.0 / 4.3 or higher
Article 38 (Thesis)
  1. 1. Those who want to submit their thesis must submit the thesis dissertation card together with the completed dissertation in a prescribed period.
  2. 2. Examination of submitted thesis is conducted by a thesis committee member appointed by the president of the graduate school.
  3. 3. The details of the master's thesis shall be in accordance with the "Master's Thesis".
Article 39 (Degree Test)
  1. 1. Those who want to substitute thesis by the degree test should submit the application for the degree examination approved by the head professor to the office before the being promoted to the final semester.
  2. 2. For the degree test, the President of Graduate School nominates a member of the university's faculty member from among the professors.
  3. 3. The details of the degree test shall be in accordance with the "Regulations on the Degree Examination".
Article 40 (Completion of Master's Degree Program)
  1. 1. Students who meet the requirements of Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4 of Article 37 must submit a thesis but fail to pass the thesis and final oral examination, or Those who have completed 38 or more credits and failed to pass the degree examination can be granted the completion of the master's degree course and can be issued a certificate of completion according to a separate form.
  2. 2. The period of acceptance of the completion is at the end of each semester.
  3. 3. A student who has completed a master's degree program may re-submit his thesis or retake his / her degree examination, provided that his / her academic year does not exceed five years (ten semesters).
Chapter 10 Replacement, Return, Reduction of Tuition
Article 41 (Replacement, Return and Reduction of Tuition Fees)
  1. 1. Replacement and return of tuition fees for a student who applies for leave of absence shall be as prescribed by the relevant laws and regulations.
  2. 2. If the admission is canceled after the admission has been completed, the money excluding the entrance fee will be refunded.
Supplement
Article 1 (Effective Date)
These rules apply from February 1998 onward.
Article 2 (Effective Date)
These rules apply from August 2000 onwards.
Article 3 (Effective Date)
This amendment bylaw (Article 3, Article 12, Article 19, Article 37-5) shall apply from September 1, 2014.
Article 4 (Effective Date)
The revised school regulations (Article 33, Paragraph 1, Article 35, Paragraph 1, Article 37, Paragraph 1) shall apply from February 2015 onwards.
Article 5 (Effective Date and Provisional Measures)
This Bylaw of Implementation (Article 11-1) shall come into effect after March 2016. The matters before the enforcement of this revised enforcement order shall be deemed to have been carried out in accordance with these enforcement regulations.

3. Regulations on Degree Examination

Article 1 (Purpose)
This bylaw is for the purpose of establishing the details of the degree test as a qualification requirement for master's degree award under Article 26 of the Graduate School Policy.
Article 2 (Eligibility for Degree Examination)
Qualifications for the degree examination are as follows.
  1. 1. Those who have passed the foreign language examination. (Not applicable from 2015)
  2. 2. Those who passed the comprehensive examination.
  3. 3. Those who have registered for more than 5 semesters.
  4. 4. A student whose academic year has not exceeded five years.
  5. 5. A person who has submitted a degree examination application approved by the head professor before the final semester promotion.
  6. 6. Students who have completed or have already completed 38 credits including the final semester.
  7. 7. Those with a GPA of 3.0 / 4.3 or higher
Article 3 (Division of degree test)
Degree exams are divided into major examination for one of the student's major courses and essay writing in Economics, which is a compulsory subject of 2 credits. However, passing the written exam and passing the essay writing in Economics must be completed in the same semester to be acknowledged as passing the degree test.
Article 4 (Time and Method of Implementation of the Question Test)
  1. 1. In principle, the implementation period of the written examination must match the period of the preliminary examination of the dissertation.
  2. 2. For the written examination, the President of the Graduate School shall appoint two or more members of the professors of each university in major fields.
  3. 3. The written examination tests whether the applicant has accurate knowledge and analytical skills in his field of study.
  4. 4. If you score 70 out of 100, you are considered to have passed the written examination.
Article 5 (Economics Essay)
  1. 1. The Economics essay writing advisor is appointed as full-time professor in the related field of the university.
  2. 2. Students who wish to write an Economics essay must submit an application for writing an Economics essay approved by the vice president at the end of the fourth semester to the faculty of education at a specified time.
  3. 3. The vice president shall recommend one advisor to the President of the Graduate School to the student who submitted the application for writing the economics essay.
  4. 4. The president of the graduate school confirms the professor Economics essay, and the professor instructs to write an essay on Economics.
Article 6 (Passing and Printing Economics Essay)
After obtaining the permission of the advisor for the Economics essay, the student shall pass the degree test and submit the essay together with the students who also passed, and submit a total of five copies to the office.

Article 1 (Effective Date)
This regulation applies from February 1998 onwards.
Article 2 (Effective Date)
The amendment (Article 2 (1)) shall be applied from February 2015 onwards.

4. Regulations on Master's thesis

Chaphter 1:General Provisions
Article 1(Purpose)
This By-Law is for the purpose of establishing the details of the dissertation as a qualification requirement in relation to award of master's degree under Article 26 of the Graduate School Policy.
Article 2 (Eligibility for Thesis)

Students who meet the following requirements may submit thesis for preliminary examination.

  1. 1. Those who have passed the foreign language examination. (Not applicable from 2015)
  2. 2. Those who pass the comprehensive examination.
  3. 3. Those who have registered for more than 5 semesters. (However, in case of early graduation, those who have registered for more than 4 semesters)
  4. 4. A student whose academic year has not exceeded five years.
  5. 5. Those who have received the approval of the thesis research plan and received instruction from the thesis advisor and received instruction for more than one semester.
  6. 6. Those with a GPA of 3.0 / 4.3 or higher
Article 3 (Format of Thesis)
  1. 1. Dissertations must be written in Korean or English.
  2. 2. The thesis should be analyzed in a scholarly manner based on solid knowledge of the subject field.
CHAPTER 2 Thesis Committee
Article 4 (Qualification of thesis advisor)
Full-time professors in the related fields of our university can become academic advisors.
Article 5 (Assignment of thesis advisor)
  1. 1. A student who wishes to submit a dissertation must submit a thesis application form approved by the vice president at the beginning of the fourth semester to the Academic Affairs Office within a prescribed period.
  2. 2. The vice president recommends a thesis advisor to the Graduate School president for the student who submitted the thesis application form.
  3. 3. The president of the graduate school confirms the proposed academic advisor.
Article 6 (Thesis Research Proposal)
  1. 1. A student who wishes to submit a thesis must submit a research proposal to the office in a prescribed period.
  2. 2. If you want to change the title of a thesis in the thesis research plan, you must submit the change of title of thesis approved by thesis advisor to the office.
Article 7 (Time of Appointment of Referees)
  1. 1. The vice president shall submit the thesis review committee to the president of the graduate school.
  2. 2. The President of the Graduate School shall confirm the proposed thesis referee and the referee shall commence the preliminary examination of the thesis and the main examination and oral examination.
Article 8 (Composition of the Referee)
  1. 1. The judges shall be three (3) persons including the main referee.
  2. 2. As long as there are no special circumstances, the thesis advisor becomes the main referee, takes charge of the progress, and reports the results of the examination to the head of the graduate school.
  3. 3. The main referee has the same authority as the other referees in the resolution.
  4. 4. The referees may be composed of outside personnel.
Chapter 3 Preliminary examination of thesis
Article 9 (Submission of Thesis)
  1. 1. Dissertation submitter must prepare three manuscripts for preliminary examination and submit it directly to the referees with the approval of the vice president for a predetermined period.
  2. 2. Manuscripts received at the office after the period specified in the preceding paragraph will be reviewed in the next semester.
  3. 3. The method of making and writing a dissertation shall be in accordance with the dissertation of Yonsei University's dissertation writing compilation committee, "Yonsei University Graduate Paper" (published by Yonsei University Press).
Article 10 (Examination Method)
  1. 1. Each referee will examine the submitted manuscript carefully.
  2. 2. The submitter of the thesis should present one or more papers through public conference if required by the head professor.
  3. 3. The referees and hearers may make relevant inquiries to the paper presenter.
  4. 4. The main referee shall incorporate the opinions of the referees and submit the results of the preliminary examination to the president of the graduate school in the prescribed period.
Article 11 (Judgment of Examination)
  1. 1. In the preliminary examination of the thesis, the referee examines the research attitude of the thesis submitter, the feasibility of the thesis topic, the validity of the analysis method, the research result, etc., and points out the matters that need to be corrected and supplemented.
  2. 2. If the dissertation is determined to be incomplete and is not likely to be completed within the semester, the dissertation of the thesis can be postponed for more than one semester.
  3. 3. The preliminary examination will be judged as "a" and "part", and the preliminary examination will be passed by two or more of the three judges.
  4. 4. A student who fails to pass the preliminary examination may submit a thesis manuscript for preliminary examination as long as his / her academic year does not exceed five years (ten semesters) after one semester or more has elapsed.
Article 12 Deletion
Article 13 (Composition of thesis)
The submitter who has passed the preliminary examination of the thesis must faithfully supplement the points indicated.
Chapter 4 The main subject of thesis
Article 14 (Submission of Thesis)
  1. 1. The submitter of the thesis must directly submit the manuscript of the manuscript to the judge in the prescribed period for the main examination, which faithfully completes the points indicated in the preliminary examination.
  2. 2. For papers submitted after a prescribed period, the examination will be postponed to the next semester.
Article 15 (Main Examination)
  1. 1. At the time and place designated by the President of the Graduate School, the final examination of thesis is conducted by the judges.
  2. 2. If a student submitting a thesis fails to receive an examination at the time set forth in the preceding paragraph, it may be examined at a later time with the consent of the judges, but must be approved by the Graduate School President in advance.
  3. 3. In cases where it is deemed necessary for the dissertation examination, the judge may request the submitter to submit a copy, a translation, a model, or other materials.
  4. 4. In the final examination, the referee examines whether the points indicated in the preliminary examination of the thesis have been revised and supplemented, and judges whether the contents and system are proper as thesis.
  5. 5. The final examination of the dissertation must be completed within a prescribed period.
Article 16 (Method of evaluation of thesis)
The acceptance of the thesis papers should be evaluated by at least 80 points from more than 2 referees.
Article 17 (Oral Examination)
  1. 1. Thesis committee member conducts the oral examination of the problem related to the thesis.
  2. 2. The methods of evaluation of verbal tests shall be applied in accordance with the provisions of the preceding Article.
Article 18 (Acceptance of Thesis)
The thesis is accepted if the student both pass the final thesis examination and the oral examination.
Article 19 (Re-examination of thesis)
  1. 1. Students who fail to submit their dissertation can submit a dissertation for the main examination as long as the student's academic year does not exceed five years (ten semesters).
  2. 2. If the student passes the thesis examination but fails oral examination, he / she may retake the oral examination only once after one semester or more. Failure to retake the exam will result in the cancellation of acceptance of the thesis master's degree.
Chapter 5 Printing and Submission of Dissertations
Article 20 (Printing Dissertations)
A thesis submitter who has received the approval of the thesis must print the thesis with approval from the advisor.
Article 21 (System of Thesis)

The system of dissertation should be as follows.

  1. 1. Board type: 4 · 6 board (18.5cm × 25.5cm)
  2. 2. Paper: Paper over 70 pounds
  3. 3. Printing method: Both sides and master print. Single-sided printing is also possible in some cases.
  4. 4. Cover color: Dark blue

Article 22 (Number of thesis submissions)
Applicants who have passed the approval of the thesis should submit the thesis to the Graduate School of Economics by submitting one copy of the dissertation, one copy of the dissertation, and six copies of the dissertation to the Academic Information Service.

5. Regulations on the Advanced Economist Program

Article 1 (Purpose)
The purpose of this article is to define the requirements for the management of the Advanced Economist Program established by Article 35 of the Graduate School Policy.
Article 2 (Name)
The name of this course is "Yonsei University Graduate School of Economics Advanced Economist Program ".
Article 3 (Operation)
  1. 1. This course is separate from the master's degree and research program of the Graduate School of Economics.
  2. 2. The Graduate School Committee pursuant to Article 31, Section 32 of the Graduate School Rules shall deliberate and resolve the following matters regarding the operation of this course.
    • ① Matters concerning the student's quota, admission, and completion.
    • ② Matters concerning the establishment and abolition of curriculum.
    • ③ Matters concerning the selection of the lecturer.
    • ④ Important matters concerning other operations.
Article 4 (Quota)
The number of quota is around 50, but can be adjusted from time to time according to the decision of the Graduate School Committee.
Article 5 (Entrance Requirements)
Those who intend to enroll in this course are, in principle, those who are deemed to have the same qualifications as senior managers of enterprises, executives of financial institutions, senior officials, member of the national assembly, lawyers, military officers, and others.
Article 6 (Documents Required for Application)
Applicants are required to submit the prescribed application form and proof of the applicant's current position and pay the prescribed application fee.
Article 7 (Selection method)
Admission screening must be based on document selection, but must be passed by the Operating Committee.
Article 8 (Course Duration)
The duration of the course is six months in principle, but can be changed in some cases.
Article 9 (Beginning)
In principle, it begins in March or September.
Article 10 (Registration)
The student must pay the prescribed tuition fee within the specified period, and the tuition fee once paid will not be refunded.
Article 11 (Attendance)
Students must attend more than two-thirds of the total number of class days.
Article 12 (Completion)
A certificate of completion will be given to students who have completed the prescribed course.
Article 13 (Recognition)
Students who have contributed to the development of this course or Yonsei University during the period of study can be recognized through the resolution of the Graduate School Committee.

6. Regulations on exchange of credit between special graduate schools

  • Enactment March 1, 1990.
  • Revision May 31, 1990.
Article 1 (Purpose)
The purpose of this regulation is to determine the exchange of credits among special graduate schools in Yonsei University.
Article 2 (Target)
The exchange of credits is only for students who have entered a special graduate school and only if the president have recognized that there is a special reason.
Article 3 (Procedure)
Students who wish to acquire credits at other graduate schools must submit a credit exchange application form to their graduate school presidents and obtain permission from the relevant graduate school principal.
Article 4 (Term and Term)
Exchange credits are limited to 6 credits per semester, and the exchange credit period cannot exceed two semesters. However, if you apply for exchange credits at the Graduate School of Education, you must follow their regulations.
Article 5 (Enrollment and dissertation)
  1. 1. Enrollment is made at the original graduate school.
  2. 2. Thesis is written at the original graduate school.
Article 6 (Registration)
  1. 1. Registration is done at the original graduate school.
  2. 2. A prescribed amount of the tuition fee is transferred to the relevant graduate school.
Article 7 (Delegation Regulation)
Details of the implementation of this regulation shall be determined by the President of the Graduate School.

Article 1 (Effective Date)
This regulation shall come into effect on March 1, 1990.
Article 2 (Effectvie Date)
This revised regulation (Article 6 (2)) shall come into effect on May 31, 1990.

7. Bylaws on contracts program

Article 1 (Purpose)
This regulation aims to define the details of the contract program.
Article 2 (Installation)
(Hereinafter referred to as the "Contracting Program ") may be established by contract with the State, local government or industry under the Act on Promotion of Industrial Education and Promotion of Industry-University Cooperation.
Article 3 (Name, Quota and Degree Name of Contract Program)
The name of the contract program is "International Asset Management Master’s Program ", " Engineering Economics Master’s Program " and "Data Science Master’s Program". The quota is 30 students per class.
Article 4 (Organization of Curriculum)
  1. 1. The organization of the curriculum should reflect the demands or requests made by the government, local government or industry.
  2. 2. Students are required to complete the course following the curriculum which is created in accordance with the above 1.
Article 5 (Student Admission)
A person who has a bachelor's degree or higher from a four-year university in Korea and has been recommended by industry with at least five regular workers, shall be selected by document screening. The recommendation letter must include a certificate of employment of the applicant, a certificate of four major insurance enrollment, and invoice of withholding tax.
Article 6 (Operational Espenses of Contract Program)
The expenses and burdens required for the operation of the contract program shall be determined by mutual consultation when signing a contract with the state, local government or industry. The contribution of the state, local governments or industries shall be exceed half of the total burden.
Article 7 (Payment of Tuition Fees etc.)
In accordance with the Act on the Promotion of Industrial Education and the Promotion of Industry-University Cooperation, the total amount of the tuition paid by the student shall not exceed 50 percent of the expenses.
Article 8 (Semester and Credits)
  1. ① The contract program master's degree are administered as sessions set in, with a one-year and six-month education period and a minimum credit of 35 credits. However, the duration of the Engineering Economics Master’s program is one year (3 quarters).
  2. ② In accordance with Article 13 (1) of the Act on the Promotion of Industry Education and Promotion of Industry-University Cooperation, if a student has a career experience related to the curriculum, credit within 20% of the required credit may be acknowledged, and the scope of acknowledgement of work experience will be determined separately.
Article 8-2 (Eligibility for Degree Award)

Those who meet the following requirements are eligible for a master's degree.

  1. 1. Those who have completed the 3rd semester and completed at least 35 credits. However, the Engineering Economics Master’s program is required to enroll in the second semester (3 quarters) and have completed at least 35 credits
  2. 2. Those with an average GPA of 3.0 or higher
Article 9 (Period of Establishment and Operation of Contract Program)
The period of establishment and operation of contract program is determined by mutual consultation when contracting with state, local government or industry.
Article 9-2 (Operationg Committee)
  1. ① A operating committee shall be established for comprehensive review and coordination of important matters concerning the operation of the contract department.
  2. ② The Operating Committee shall consist of four or more members appointed by the President of the Graduate School (Vice President, Head Professor, Student Representative and Industry Representative) and the president of the Graduate School shall be the chairman.
  3. ③ The term of office of the Operating Committee shall be the period of appointment, and the term for student representative and industrial representative shall be one year and six months.
Article 10 (Protection of students from the abolition of contract program)
If the contract program is abolished before the period of its establishment and operation expires, the students who are attending the contract program of the t should take the remaining period of education for the related professors under the responsibility of the head professor.
Article 10-2 (Maintenance of Qualifications)
The university must confirm the condition of the eligibility of the student by checking the status of the student's employment every semester. If a student retires or is disciplined for personal reasons, or resigns due to expiration of the term of the contract, the admission shall be canceled or the student is expelled. However, except for the above, involuntary leaving can be an exception.
Article 11 (Applicable Regulations)
The matters not specified in these bylaws shall be governed by the rules and regulations of the Graduate School of Economics.

Article 1 (Effectvie Date)
This regulation applies from August 2014 to students entering into the contract department.

This amendment (Article 3) will apply from February 2015 onwards.
