Public Policy & Economic Development Major Elective Courses

RC638 공공경제론 (PUBLIC ECONOMICS)
Students learn the reasons for government intervention in the market economy within the mixed economic system, and understand how the social welfare changes by analyzing the economic activities of the government based on efficiency and equity as a desirable distribution criterion of allocating scarce resources. In this course, we will learn about the following three topics: 1. The function of the government and criteria of policy analysis in welfare economics aspect 2. Public expenditure theory 3. Basis of tax theory.
RC543 경제발전론 (DEVELOPMENT ECONOMICS)
This course examines the major factors of economic development in terms of system and development theory, and then discusses not only the gradual historical approach but also the capital accumulation and development strategy and obstacles of developing country, structural change, problem of income distribution and equity, foreign debt problem. In particular, we will explore the major factors of economic development and stages of economic advancement in developed countries and look for measures for economic development in Korea.
RC631 경제정책세미나 (SEM. IN ECONOMIC POLICY)
This course aims to cultivate basic knowledge and ability to understand and analyze economic policies and phenomena in domestic and foreign economies.
RC577 고령화와 경제성장 (AGING AND ECONOMIC GROWTH)
This lecture examines the aging of our society and discusses the impact of aging on the economy, including productivity, labor market, and medical expenditure.
RC781 기후금융 (CLIMATE FINANCE)
This course focuses on the financial aspects of carbon, climate and environment that are important in all industries by understanding climate finance, green finance, environmental finance markets and carbon trading schemes. Students learn how to create, register, market, buy, trade, and sell carbon credits and understand the trading system and the market.
RC544 노동경제학 (LABOR ECONOMICS)
The aim of this course is to cultivate the ability to understand, judge and apply labor economics and the practical ability to cope with human resources and policies through professional knowledge on employment, wage, and labor relations.
RC920 노사관계론 (INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS)
Students are expected to understand industrial relations not only as traditional union relatedness but as employment relations which includes individual relations, non-union relations and emphasize employment relatedness, and understand issues and principles of employment relations and seek solutions of policy problems.
RC697 북한경제론 (NORTH KOREAN ECONOMY)
This course aims to analyze and understand the problems of North Korean socialist economic system and study economic theories and policy alternatives for the strategy of North Korean economic system transformation related to unification.
RC583 비용편익분석 (COST BENEFIT ANALYSIS)
In order for the government to resolve the various economic and social problems and to promote national development under revenue deficiency, this course aims to cultivate the ability to judge the validity through cost benefit analysis for large-scale public investment projects
RC674 조세정책론 (TAXATION)
The purpose of this course is to improve the understanding of various tax issues that can be seen on the newspaper and to discuss the policy direction in the future. First, the basic theory of taxation will be examined. Then, discussions will be made on the process of tax policy formation, considerations in establishing tax policy, current status and evaluation of Korean tax system, mid and long-term policy direction. We will conduct lively and in-depth discussions on major pending issues such as increase in tax, error in estimating tax revenue, formation of tax revenue supplementary budget.
RC587 환경경제학 (ENVIRONMENTAL ECONOMICS)
Environmental Economics is concerned with analyzing the rational use and management of natural environment with analytical tools of economics. The purpose of this course is to study what kinds of economic systems and policies should be introduced for balancing between the human wants and environmental conservation. The students also learn the benefit/cost analysis of environmental regulation policy.
